Socorro is a surf beach rather than a swimming one, and that changes the pictures. The waves are big and constant, so the sound alone keeps children busy, and the wide flat sand means we are never boxed in by sunbeds or crowds.
North coast cloud keeps the light soft for most of the day, which is the practical advantage here. Because the beach faces north west, the strongest light arrives late, in the last hour before the sun drops behind the ridge.
