The bay is small and protected, so the water stays calm even when the coast further north is rough. For a dress that matters: you can walk into the shallows here without the Atlantic deciding to take the hem.
Like everywhere on this coast, the light belongs to the evening. The sun sets straight out to sea in front of the beach, and the black sand holds the warm tone long after the sky has cooled.
