Portrait Session in Los Gigantes, Tenerife
A portrait session in Los Gigantes on the west coast of Tenerife, with the thousand metre cliffs rising straight out of the ocean behind. Photographed by Iryna Danylko.
For a single portrait the cliffs work as a wall rather than a view. They fill the frame behind you with texture and no horizon, which is unusual and hard to find anywhere else on the island.
West coast means evening. The last hour before sunset turns the basalt warm and puts the light along your face rather than above it. Earlier in the day the rock sits in its own shadow and the contrast collapses.
